New York, New York!!!

I went to New York last week!!! Who is jealous? Last Thursday I went to visit Mike, his dad and stepmom, in Staten Island, NY. I left the Louisville International Airport around 2 and had another amazing flight. See, I tend to have this black cloud that follows me whenever I travel in the air. I flew on this new airline called Independence Air. It is actually a really nice line, with a humorous safety speech at the beginning of the flight, and a variety of snacks, drinks, and hot towels throughout the flight. Bonus: I had the seats to myself to Washington-Dulles airport. I had a tight connection, and when I arrived, I immediately went to my next gate to ask if my next flight had begun boarding. Delayed. Cancelled. Yeah, that's right. Fuckin' airport cancelled my 4:20 flight. So, I went to the desk and they put me on the 9:20 flight to Newark, NJ which really didn't leave the ground until 10:50. Nevertheless, I met Mike and Dina at 11:40 and we drove back to Staten Island to their wonderful, 100 yr. old home. I told Mike I was pretty tired so he suggested we go to bed early and he would take care of me. Hehe.

On Friday, both his dad and Dina had to work, so we took the Staten Island Ferry over to MANHATTAN. Oh, and then the subway to the Meta, that big, famous art museum. It was gorgeous, everything about it. But almost too much to see at one time. I think we spent over three hours there, and merely skimmed each section. Afterward we took a walk around the Great Lawn of Central Park and I *cough* enjoyed *cough* a New York hot dog. Lastly, we went through SoHo to Little Italy and had a lovely candle light dinner on his dad's money. It was delicious though, although we didn't have the balls or ovaries to order wine. Our evening was complete with a ride back to the island on the ferry, watching the sunset behind the Statue of Liberty. Can you say, "WONDERFUL".

Saturday we got up early and went to get tickets for the Broadway Shows: RENT and The Producers! I love musicals. Then we went to look at the ships and fish markets at Southshore Seaport, or Pier 17. After that, Mr. DiPilato treated us to the NBC tour during which we learned about the history of NBC and got to see the studios where nightly news, SNL, and Conan were produced. It was pretty sweet. Our night ended with a stroll through Rockfeller Center and down Time Square, yummy dinner, and the glorious production of RENT at the Nedlerlander. Orgasm! Which I did that night, too.

Sunday we got up late, and saw The Producers as a Matinee. It was hilarious, and I think Mike and his Dad enjoyed it more than RENT. Then again, what do they know about Broadway Shows. That night Mike and I watch a good, yet dramatic movie about a skinhead brother and how he affects his family. It's called American History X. I recommend it.

Monday, tear. My last full day in the Big Apple. Actually the three of us spent it at a huge outlet mall in Jersey. Go Figure. But we shopped 'til we dropped, that's for sure, and Michael spent all of his savings. J/K mike. That night we went to go see the Yankees (minor league) team play at the Staten Island Stadium. It was a weird ballgame, meaning I've never seen so many foul balls hit the crowd before. Oh, I got my face painted by a molesting clown and Mike and I shared the nasiest nachos baseball has ever sold. We watched a movie that night, too. No, not porn, that was Saturday night. We watched Hotel Rwanda and Hitch.

It was a blessing that we didn't go to bed until 2 am on Monday night because it meant that sleeping on the plane rides home were much easier. However, I still had my travel woes and so did Mike. I had a delay, and three babies crying and one vomitting on my flight to Washington-Dulles. However, my connection was so tight, I literally walked out of gate A6, across the hall, handed my ticket to gate A5, and got on my plane to Louisville. Yes, so fast that my luggage didn't make that connection and I got it at 10:30 that night by the airline's delivery service. Mike, on the other hand, got to the airport with me that morning at 8:30, didn't have a flight until 2ish, and had a 5 hour layover in Atlanta until he got home at 1 am. I think he got a little to much of me that weekend ;) and inherited some of my black cloud. I hope this means we're still seeing each other. Hehe. Overall, excellent vacay. Now, I have a mere 15 hours until my next one to Gatlinburg, aka the Smokies, with the fam. Can't wait.
